Full Tour Description

Meet your private guide at your accommodation. From there we head to the center to take walk the Charles Bridge where we’ll cross one of Prague’s three main attractions and become history in the making by following the routes of kings, queens and noblemen! After making our way across this masterpiece we will stop to admire the austere majesty of Our Lady under the Chain, a church and monastery founded by the Templars on their way to the holy land. Then it is off to visit the John Lennon Wall and Kampa Park with the Owl Mill where we can have a laugh at some replicas of Černý’s babies that climb Prague’s hated TV tower. From here we visit the church of Saint Nicolas (inside) the often overlooked but most beautiful church in Prague! Finally, it is time to ascend to the Castle. We continue to savour the grandeur of its more well-known neighbour, Old Royal Palace, the oldest structure in the Castle area, a place that have served for coronations, indoor jousting tournaments, banana markets and defenestrations – the practice of throwing people out through a window, a term coined by the Czechs! Then a visit to St Vitus, the country’s largest cathedral. It took almost six hundred years to build and finish and is named after a child saint that was fried in oil, but during the Middle Ages was infamous for inducing involuntary dance mania, and also protects against oversleeping, lightning strikes and animal bites. As if this was not enough to see you can also discover the statues of four men in business suits on the cathedral façade, back to the future!

As we walk back down the hillside to discover some lovely hidden gardens and our last sights of the walk we see the marvellous views of the city beneath in front of us. The Wallenstein Gardens, built by Europe’s greatest general is a must see with all the quirkiness as well. After this, you will surely be surprised how empty the near-by but hidden-away Vojan Gardens are even in the busiest time of the year! Our last stop is the outside of the Franz Kafka museum for another amusing creation by David Černý. The tour ends near the Manes bridge for an easy walk back to the center.
